On occasion, Glenbow Ranch Provincial Park will close or post cautionary warnings for certain trails to allow for Range Management. Much as bison once did, the domestic cattle that now graze on the park provide the fescue grasslands with the maintenance necessary to keep them healthy. Glenbow Ranch Provincial Park is a working ranch. To ensure the safety of visitors and cattle alike, please obey all signs and be aware that cattle may be at large in some areas of the park. For your own safety, please do not approach the animals.
Please note: There is currently NO ACCESS to the park from the City of Calgary pathways. Haskayne Legacy Park is under development by the City of Calgary, but it is not yet open to the public. Until it is open, the only access to Glenbow Ranch Provincial Park is via Glenbow Road.
- North Scott Trail – Closed until further notice. Do not enter.
- Trail Closures will roll west from Bearspaw Trail (beginning September 9) as the cattle graze our grasslands – keeps the cattle well-fed and the grasslands healthy. Please be patient. Our ever-active and very hungry grassland management team (the cattle) will be moving from just east of the narrows through to the eastern loop of the Bow River Loop on September 29. They will remain there for at least the next week and then be headed west again. It is still possible to use the area, but please be aware of the animals surrounding you – do not approach them (they are not pets). The gate at the east washroom will remain closed until the entire herd has moved to the new pasture. The trail east of the quarry will remain closed until Parks staff have had a chance to clean things up a little.
